Summary.   When clients become friends, you know you’re doing something right, and for Cromwell Tall Poppy agent Keeley Anderson that something is being eternally positive and honest.

Positivity and honesty underpin impressive success for rookie agent Keeley Anderson.

Despite being relatively new to the real estate industry, Keeley often receives feedback from clients noting how much she genuinely cares about them, and it is this approach that has seen her recognised as one of Tall Poppy’s top rookies.

Starting out in a new real estate role right before COVID-19 lockdown last year may have been enough to put some people off completely, but Keeley not only appraised 71 homes in the last year, she also sold 30 of them, putting her into Tall Poppy’s Bronze Sale Club.

With a sales and marketing background in the luxury fashion and publishing industries, Keeley says it was the experience she and her husband had when looking to buy a property that drew her to real estate.

“In three years of house hunting and attending open homes we never once had a call back from a single agent,” she says.

“It was awful not being taken seriously even though we owned an apartment in Queenstown -  and it didn’t give us the confidence to put in offers so we became very disheartened with the whole buying process. Finally though, we bought with Peter Hishon at Tall Poppy, who would become my future business partner.”

Keeley says she felt inspired to get into real estate with Tall Poppy as they shared her belief that buyers and homeowners deserved better service and more help to understand the process.

“The highlights are achieving the best results for all involved,” she says.

“You hear of vendors celebrating a big sale, but a key moment for me was being thanked personally by a buyer who had been successful in a very competitive multi-offer situation. It’s not just about getting your client the best price and outcome possible it’s also about helping buyers to realise and achieve their property ownership dreams as for many it’s a very stressful time and easy to get discouraged”.

The move into her new real estate role didn’t come without challenges though. Starting out in a town she had recently moved to and not knowing anyone to begin with was a hurdle for Keeley, but a combination of being motivated by smashing the goals she sets for herself, as well as support from her family, has seen her achievements in the industry continue to grow.

“I’m incredibly lucky to have that unwavering support that allows me to focus on my clients and customers and gives me the freedom to see what I can achieve and how far I can push it,” Keeley says.

“This year my personal goal is to achieve 50 sales. Long term I would like to own a franchise and use my experience and background to help other aspiring agents be successful in the industry”.

Keeley’s business partner Peter Hishon is impressed by her rapid rise into the top tier of Tall Poppy’s selling agents across the country.

“Her professionalism, energy, enthusiasm, and real estate knowledge for someone so new is top class,” he says.

So for this self-described proud Southern girl and mum of two, being home in Central Otago is her happy place, and introducing others to the remarkable region through her work with Tall Poppy is the icing on the cake.
