We may not have any upcoming open homes but we can usually schedule a private visit.
A unique property with heaps of history. Sitting on a freehold property and zoned commercial, right beside the Ohakune Railway Station on Thames Street, is the original Post Office which was built in 1910.
As you will see in the photos, the Post Office boxes are still a feature of the exterior of the house. And for those of you that are old enough, like me, you may remember it as the home of New Sensations in the 1980"s, a company that produced original clothing in the Bungy era! In 2004 it was bought by the current owners who's family and friends have enjoyed many ski holidays and made great memories here.
There is definitely work to be done, but what a great project, and just imagine being the proud owners of such an iconic property. She may be an oldie, but she's an oldie with a fabulous and relatively new iron roof. The interior is mostly open plan with huge built-in bunks and more Post Office memorabilia, along with some recognisable retro posters to boot.
If you love Mardi Gras, this is your front row seat! And don't forget, being zoned commercial means that you could also set up shop in the Junction's favourite street, Thames Street.
Post me a message to come and check out a bit of Ohakune's history. You gotta love it!
